A mind map is a tool for organising thoughts. It is an attempt to capture the complexity of the world in a clear network of connections. Mind Trap starts from the opposite assumption: that our thinking can never be fully organised.

For this exhibition, Coppejans Gallery brings together work by two artists who have never met. Denmark (1950, Wilrijk) and Lucia Mrakovcic (1982, Antwerp) both build their artistic practices around the phenomenon of accumulation, albeit in different ways. In a world where ever more images, information, objects and impressions are being produced, they explore how this constant accumulation influences our thinking and perception. Both take as their starting point a form of overload: a reality that unfolds faster than we can process it and which manifests itself not only around us, but also within our minds.

In Mind Trap discover a shared sensibility in the work of two artists from different generations. Their works exist at the intersection of order and chaos, between holding on and letting go, between what we consciously register and what nestles unnoticed in our memory.
