The artist duo Les Deux Garçons is celebrating twenty-five years of artistic practice this year. They are marking this milestone with, among other things, a solo show at Coppejans Gallery, where a selection from their exceptionally versatile oeuvre will be presented.

The work of Atelier Les Deux Garçons revolves around playfulness, ambiguity and a subtle undermining of the obvious within art and design. They combine sculpture, installation and object art with a distinct sense of irony and ambiguity, in which aesthetics and concept are always in tension. Their work often starts from recognisable forms or materials, which they transform into poetic and sometimes absurd visual language.

The use of taxidermy in their work is one of the distinctive elements in their artistic practice. In doing so, they give new meaning to the centuries-old tradition of preserving and staging animals, not merely as scientific or decorative objects, but as carriers of meaning, emotion and narrative. By assigning deceased animals an almost theatrical role, they balance between beauty and discomfort, between fascination and alienation. Their approach touches on themes such as transience, identity and the fragile relationship between humans and nature.
