Jan Henderikse – ¡SUPER!

Artist Jan Henderikse is to have a major solo exhibition at Mueum EICAS in Deventer. The museum describes Henderikse as the public’s favourite among the Nul artists and the exhibitor of their dreams. His body of work is colourful, thought-provoking and surprisingly topical. With both his ‘austere’ Nul works and his playful, humour-infused art from later years, Henderikse manages to reach a broad and diverse audience. His last museum exhibition took place in 2018 at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. Now, eight years later, the time is ripe for a retrospective that does justice to both his early and late work.

The exhibition, curated by Antoon Melissen, is innovative in its approach, as Henderikse’s work is not presented exclusively within the context of the Nul Group. The selection has been compiled with an eye to current events and the way his work is received today.

The expo ¡SUPER! is also accompanied by a book of the same name, which will also be the first Dutch-language publication on Henderikse. Coppejans Gallery is supporting the project, among other things, by lending several works to the museum for the exhibition.
