This year, a special art project is running in Sofitel Legend The Grand. The five-star hotel in the center of Amsterdam invited 52 artists to stay and work there for one week at a time. The project aims to support the arts in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

Adriaan Rees was working there all week. The works that were created will be included in a publication. The entire proceeds of the project are donated to the artists. From his temporary workplace he also sent cards directly derived from the book project Truth/Reality and the performance Drei Hasen that took place at Coppejans Gallery during the passing year.

The Grand’s invitation was a supportive gesture that was most welcome. It feels like an acknowledgment of the arts in times when culture was sometimes pushed into the background. Ewerdt Hilgemann is also one of those selected to participate in the project.
