From today until 22 May, a cage will be erected on the Falconplein opposite the gallery. In the cage, seven performances will take place from Beuys’ birthday (12 May) until the end of the Antwerp Art Weekend (16 May):

The cage refers to the 1974 Beuys performance in New York entitled “I like America and America likes me”, in which Beuys had himself locked in a cage with a wild coyote. The OpenCage now on Falcon Square is an initiative by our gallery to showcase contemporary artists in the context of 100 years of Beuys.
